I’m a UCLA-trained epidemiologist working in neurology at UC Irvine and the writer and builder behind The Edge of Epidemiology.

A paper, talk, or project needs a useful explanation for people outside its immediate field.
What you receive
- Plain-language research summaries and project descriptions.
- A scoped set of lab-news, website, or short-form research updates.
- Source-linked copy with qualifications intact and a reusable handoff.

To begin: The papers, slides, recordings, or draft copy; the intended audience; and where the material will appear.
The number of outputs, source volume, and depth of editorial work determine the quote.

Data / Stats / Writing Cleanup Sprint
$400–$1,500
An analysis, figure, codebase, or scientific draft needs to become understandable and reproducible.
What you receive
- A defined R/Python analysis, code-cleanup, figure, or writing deliverable.
- Checks of assumptions, units, denominators, and interpretation relevant to that deliverable.
- A reproducible report or revised artifact with handoff notes.

To begin: A description of the research question, current code or draft, data documentation, and an appropriate shareable sample where needed.
Data condition, analysis complexity, and the size of the requested revision determine the quote.

A clinical, public-health, policy, or research question needs a bounded, source-backed answer.
What you receive
- A defined question, search strategy, and inclusion boundaries.
- An evidence table or annotated source packet distinguishing findings from interpretation.
- A brief, memo, or slide-ready summary suited to the audience.

To begin: Your decision or question, audience, existing sources, and any constraints on the review.
Question breadth, literature volume, source access, and output format determine the quote.

What you receive

- A maintainable static build with documented data and update procedures.

To begin: The topic and intended audience, source material or dataset, desired interactions, and your update needs.

You receive the finished artifact, relevant source files, and instructions for using or updating it.
Ongoing maintenance: $100–$300/month. Separately scoped support for publication updates, page changes, broken links, and similar upkeep.
