Sri Lanka reports increase in dengue in 2026

In a follow-up on the dengue fever situation in Sri Lanka this year, officials with the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) report 27,754 dengue cases as of May 11, an increase in cases compared to 2025. In addition, 14 deaths have been recorded. The highest number of infections has been recorded in the Western Province, while Matara, Galle, Ratnapura, Kalutara, and Kandy districts have also reported a significant number of cases in the first four months of 2026.
